In the province of Almeria, near Escullos, is a small fishing village called "La Isleta del Moro Arráez". The town is named after a small island located a few meters from the beach, next to a huge rock, which in antiquity was frequented by fierce Arab in search of treasure. The name was derived from the Berber warlord, Mohamed Arráez. The Arabic word "ar-rais" means "skipper" and appeared in the eighteenth century written as "jarraez". Its restaurants are famous for fish, freshly caught by the colorful boats in the area. The beauty of the place, located in the Natural Park of Cabo de Gata-Nijar, is undeniable. Despite the urban explosion of the coast, the village has maintained its appearance and atmosphere as a fishing village. This is the best place to enjoy some of the beautiful views of Los Escullos. Although fishing is now a minority activity, replaced by more tourist-oriented, such as diving and restoration, small white houses and the locals make the traveler feel the peace and rest you are looking for.

Casa de Comidas is hidden, it is only for dinner, you have to call to book and it isn't open every day. First the food: Pizzas are the specialty (10 €) traditional oven Olive Wood, Galician octopus, salads, omelette with gazpacho, cheese cake, but there is everything you can book and other rice dishes, simple but delicious. I think the latter explains the charm of the place, with a terrace which is like an Andalusian courtyard full of flowers and plants and the interior is like an old collapsed house with all kinds of antiques and striking paintings by local artists. Value for money is highly recommended, ideal for couples or group meals throughout the year.
We just spent a week's holiday in the natural park of Cabo de Gata. The apartments in Fernan Perez Mortar were recommend as accommodation by relatives. They are very reasonably priced. When asked where we could eat, the bar La Plaza was recommended. We decided to have a look and went there for a few beers. Surprisingly for 8 euros, we got a good pitcher of beer from a more than generous selection to choose from. The next day we decided to try the food. Again for 8 euros we got great food. Real home cooking with many dishes to choose from. A good place then, to eat for a great price. Highly recommended for those who do not want sophistication, but good food.
