This is the center of the small capital of the region of Priorat. It has an arcaded square where the Town Hall is located, which was the former Renaissance palace of the counts of Prades. There is a nice bar where you can have a cold beer in the shade and enjoy this beautiful place.
It had been many years since my last visit to Falset. When I last went, the castle was a mass of rubble. I was surprised to see how well they have renovated it and turned it into a wine museum. The castle dates from 1168 and was built by the Castellví family. It was demolished by the order of Charles V and later rebuilt as a prison. From here there is a nice view of the capital of the Priorat.
