The Kobuk Valley Jade Company is a mix of a shop and a museum, located in downtown Girdwood. Alaska has some of the largest deposits of jade in the world and it is therefore one of the most used stones in local art. This place showcases the wonderful ways in which they work with jade. They also have a lot of art made of ivory and whale bone. Outside the building is a beautiful totem.
This trail is one of the most beautiful and easy to walk routes in the area. You can find it in the Chugach State Park (State Park Chugach mountains), behind the Hotel Alyeska in Girdwood. It is an eight kilometer road that rises and falls through the forest and has amazing views. You can walk it in two or three hours but be careful of the bears. It's definitely worth doing if you like nature.
