Amidst the bustle of Covent Garden

"St. Paul's Church" is a small church where something unnoticed happens amidst the bustle of Covent Garden. It's on the west side of the market, just behind the area used by mime artists, charlatans and other characters that entertain the crowd with their antics. The church was begun in 1631 with the intention of having input from the market (from the east). But the Bishop of London insisted that the altar should be in the east wall. Thus the great portico was never used and the entrance is through the western part of the church which is much more modest and more in line with the church, providing a calm and peaceful entrance to the religious building.

Worth the trip

Saint Paul's Cathedral is one of the most iconic places in London. Built between 1676 and 1710, it's perfectly-conserved today and housed one fo the most famous weddings in the world: that of Charles and Diana. The most impressive part of Saint Paul is without a doubt its spectacular dome that can be seen from around the city. It's the second highest dome in the world. Anyone ve comes to see the Cathedral will end with awed (and I do not mean just the act of looking up). If you want to visit, go with a few pounds on Monday through Saturday (its closed on Sundays).
