In my recent visit to the magnificent Palacio da Brejoeira, in addition to seeing a beautiful neoclassical building from the early nineteenth century, a huge vineyard, a forest and a garden, I caught sight of a really pretty lake (artificial, as our tour guide told us). After visiting the interior of the palace and seeing its elegant rooms, library, etc.., we did a great tour of the the 18 hectares of vineyards (Alvarinho), 8 acres of forest, the lake and the rest of the gardens. The lake surrounds a small island in the center which has a bridge surrounded by abundant vegetation. There is so much green that the water appears green to which is probably what caught my attention. The palace can be visited from Tuesday to Sunday for a total price of 7.5 euros (includes interior and exterior views of the palace) or just the outside for a lower amount.
Vila Nova de CERVEIRA is a nice town with a wall surrounding what is today the amazing Pousada (Parador), installed in a 16th century castle whose founder was King Don Dinis. Close to this fort is there is a popular fair de Vila Nova de Cerveira every Saturday. On the other side of the village of CERVEIRA, and across the river Miño is the Goian Galician village, formerly crossed by ferry, but now you can cross a bridge that was made not too long ago. But what I want to emphasize is the Mother Church and the Chapel of Mercy, and the landscape that gives the river Miño, especially from the top of the mountain or do Cervo Mirador, the scenery is amazing, as you can see a tiny island in the river Miño, full of vegetation and heart-shaped, which is called "Island of the Loves" and the amazing view that extends to Mount Santa Tecla (La Guardia). At the top of Mirador do Cervo, is an image of an animal symbol of the city and a few meters one can see a lake and a convent at the end of the road that is named Convent of San Paio.
We took one of the many trails on Mount Espinho that climbed to the back of the Sanctuary of Bom Jesus, and among the lush forest vegetation, we found this wonderful place - a beautiful lake that you could even take a walk aboard small boats for hire. Around the lake there were several benches and opposite a snack bar and a children's play area (it was closed but I guess in summer it would be busy). Nearby is the statue of Moses (Terreiro de Moses), who initially was on the esplanade facing the sanctuary.
