Copperfield Street, Southwark Street

1 review of Copperfield Street, Southwark Street

So beautiful

As this alley is hidden behind the famous Union Street it usually goes unnoticed and although Copperfield Street is only a short passage it's so beautiful and with an air that remains faithful to the original. This row of maybe 8-9 houses is in very beautiful small community gardens and the building is that of the former mayor of Southwark. It was built in 1870 in what was then a destitute and dangerous area of Southwark (evident by a poster saying "Commit No Nuisance"). It's a very special place among all the modern buildings and new offices of today's Southwark.
