Mitre Square

Further west of the City is the church of St Botolph's, beside Aldgate underground station. Near this church, the penultimate victim Catherine Eddowes spent her last hours. The police arrested her on the night of 29 September. She spent the night at Bishopsgate police station to recover from drunkenness and shortly after leaving on the morning of September 30, she vanished and was never seen again. Her body was found hours later in Mitre Square, terribly disfigured. Today the square has been fully refurbished.
