The Elgin Marbles

2 reviews of The Elgin Marbles

Worth visiting

The Parthenon Marbles or Elgin Marbles can be seen in the British Museum in London, located on Great Russell Street. It's very close to the Russell Square and the underground station that bears the same name.

The British Museum is the largest museum in the UK and one of the largest and most famous museums of antiques from around the world. Since its opening in 1759, it only closed its doors during the two world wars and is one of the most visited museums in the world, with more than 5 million visitors per year.

It contains more than 7 million items from every continent, many of which are stored to be studied or repaired or just because there isn't any space.
