L'Épi de Blé is a restaurant that is on the street that goes down between the bars from the Old Port. Not only do they have crepes and pancakes, but also steak tartare and salmon ... The opening hours are Monday to Saturday from 11h to 23h. They also have a cheese tasting club which organizes meals with cheese to taste ... I tried a sugar cake and it was delicious!
Le Comptoir des Voyages is one of the restaurants in Coutanceau Grégory. It is located on Saint-Jean du Perot: Called by some "the street of restaurants". It features international cuisine cooked with local ingredients and Western techniques. It seems to invite you to travel ... "There is a menu of 19 €: starter + main dish or dessert with main course + 1 glass of wine and 1 coffee. And there is also a € 31.50 menu. We tried an appetizer that surprised me with its flavor, a carpaccio of mango marinated in sate and spicy tuna from Mauritius. Both of these choices were wonderful.
La Boussole restaurant serves cuisine with flavors and fragrances from all over the world. It offers 3 options: - An "night" menu for 14.7 € - Starter + plate or dish + dessert for € 21.8 - Starter Menu + Dish + Dessert for € 25.4. I tried the Starter menu + Dish with goats cheese rolled in honey and poppy seeds: super good!! And for the main course: Grilled Salmon with Cajun spices: it was also very good. If you want to find a kitchen which is original and also good ... make a brief stop at The Compass.
La Petite Auberge is open between 12h00 and 14h00 and from 19h30 to 22h30 (It is closed on Sundays and Mondays and Wednesdays at lunch time). Established by sponsors of Aunis, this small restaurant is very friendly and has everything you need: good atmosphere, beautiful facade, customers and a large variety of cuisine ... I love the food presentation and décor! On the other hand, I can say that it is quite expensive but worth it. There is a menu for 28 € or you can choose a la carte.
Le Canot is one of the Cours des Dames restaurants in La Rochelle. They serve cheap seafood, grilled meats and fish, mussels (between € 8.50 and € 10.50), pizzas, salads, etc.. It's a pretty nice place if you´re looking for a restaurant specializing in French cuisine during the summer. I ate there once and didn´t seem half bad. However, in my opinion, the the Cours des Dames restaurants are not the best restaurants in La Rochelle. For the same amount of money you can eat better in other places.
Like all good criticism, it must be accepted, the Côte de Boeuf has to make an extra effort in order to reach the standard of other restaurants on the Rue Saint-Jean du Perot ... On all levels: the place, decoration, the service ... My friend and I were very disappointed with our dinner there. When you go into a restaurant called "the Côte de Boeuf", you expect a minimum quality of the meat, ours was not very good and the accompaniment was a sticky rice. I do not recommend this restaurant.
I love this restaurant. I come here for lunch once a week with my boss, and we both recommend it. The lunchtime menu has a great quality : price ratio. In summer, there are a lot of people, so you may have to wait a little longer, but the terrace is very nice. For me, the best restaurant in the port of La Rochelle.
The "Entre 2" is an ice cream parlour that is almost in the port of La Rochelle, in the little streets around that area. As well as ice cream, you can eat waffles, drink a cocktail, or just a coke, as it's not too expensive. The outdoor terrace allows you to admire the sea and the ships while you eat. In terms of flavours, I recommend the apricot ice cream - delicious!
The Theobar is not far from the city centre, next to Amerigo Vespucci street. It serves coffee, drinks, cakes, and especially tea - a wide variety is on offer. You can also enjoy lunch here. I really like it: it's cozy and friendly, with a terrace outside, and armchairs and cushions inside. In the background, there are large tables and a small library. The owner is very nice.
This is a coffee shop which has just recently opened. This restaurant is the Bistrot de Rémi Massé, with the same boss. This friendly place is fine for a drink with friends before going to dinner at a restaurant. Here you can have some tapas at the same time as buying some canned goods or typical products.
Rigoletto restaurant is a pizzeria in La Rochelle. It has an Italian atmosphere. I went there twice on 2 separate occasions for a birthday celebration, where they organized a group dinner with pasta dishes with different sauces (I thought it was pretty good but I thought it was a shame that they served the sauces directly on the dishes), and for a romantic dinner : I tried the pizza and they really are delicious. After Teatro Bettini, it´s the best pizza place in La Rochelle.
This restaurant would be an interesting place for sea lovers: it serves seafood dishes, cooked fish, mussels ... Everything is delicious. This is a small restaurant, located opposite the two towers. It has a good atmosphere, good decoration ... a fine restaurant especially for seafood ... The seafood platter is 26 € per person.
Restaurant Pattaya is the best Asian restaurant in La Rochelle. This is a restaurant which serves Chinese and Thai food. The food is very delicate and refined ... There are dishes to suit all tastes: spring rolls, chicken with Thai sauce, duck (ordered with 48 hours notice for preparation), shrimp dumplings, curried frogs legs ... The staff are very friendly, it is clean and the décor is renewed. It's really beautiful. For about 20 € you can have a menu (starter + main course + small bowl of white rice + dessert). It´s definitely a restaurant to try ....
The Abrazo restaurant has the same owner as the Abrazo tapas bar next door. It is brand new, and so far we haven't seen a lot of people, which is a real shame. I love this restaurant. It has a very affordable a la carte option, and delicious dishes. You can eat outside or in. A must try.
Le Cabanon des Pêcheurs is a great restaurant with a three-course menu available for 25 euros. There were plenty of dishes to choose from: crispy sardines with peppers, grilled and stuffed with herbs, monkfish skewers with peppers, caramel apples, salted butter ... The food is delicious and very good quality, the presentation of the food is lovely, and the decor is great.
L'Avant-Scéne is at the entrance of the Rue Saint-Jean du Perot, along the flow path. We often came here after a show at the Coursive. While watching the show, we can have something to drink or eat. I was having a drink recently, and it is quite nice.
Le Terroir is one of the many small restaurants located on Rue Saint-Jean du Perot. It's very simple. It offers traditional cuisine using local produce. For this reason, the menu varies depending on the season. The Charentais rolls looked really good. I also liked the grape slush puppy. It's a fun place to go with friends or to eat cheaply. Prices range from 12-25 €, which is totally affordable. However, there was one negative point: I have to say that the service could be improved.
