Restaurants in Ciudadela
Café Balear Restaurant

This restaurant is located in the Ciutadella port in Menorca. It was recommended to us by natives as the best the island had to offer and the truth is we loved it. The waiters very helpful and pleasant and the food ... how would one say: im-pressive. The fish is fresh because we witnessed how the fishermen brought it freshly caught and delivered it. We ordered an arroz caldoso (mix between a paella and soup) with monkfish and Norway lobster. € 30 per person more or less.

Cova Sa Nacra

This is a restaurant that has a terrace overlooking the sea and the restaurant itself is carved into the rock. It’s an odd place: it seems that a Menorcan from Ciutadella that goes by the artistic name Kyana bought this small cave in Cala Santandria and excavated the cave to increase its size. He also sculpted curious figures and medallions and decorated it with the shells of Nacras, a bivalve mollusk about 50cm long. There’s also a museum with his sculptures but it was closed and we couldn't see it. We ate there two days and contemplated the sea from the terrace. They have paella, roast meat, grilled Menorcan red shrimp, delicious fish, and salads. Truth is that we really enjoyed it. At night, they put on music and light candles and it makes for a very agreeable atmosphere to have a drink. There are also some stairs that go down towards the sea and a small trampoline. The hotel Prinsotel la Caleta is also just behind Cova Sa Nacra.

Ses Voltes, Espai Gastronomic

For me, this is one of the best bar-restaurants in Ciutadella because, aside from having great food in terms of quantity and quality, it’s miles away from the out of control prices in some of the bars in the port (like the Tritón, for example) and has a menu with prices geared towards normal, middle-class people. It’s located in the center of the city on Ses Voltes street; it’s easily-recognizable by the arches that flank the streets on the right hand side. The lower part of the restaurant is for tapas and sandwiches. They have an extensive tapas menu and some good homemade desserts as well. The top floor is a restaurant with a terrace for those who want to eat outside and the seafood dishes are very well done. I also have to say that I left with the urge to try out some of the bars on those little streets that go out from the left of the square right before Ses Voltes, the one you access from Mallorca St. It’s the street with all the roast chicken signs!

It’s a good restaurant for lunch, dinner, or some tapas. We went for dinner and had to wait a bit since it was in the high season. They take your name and let you know when you table is ready. The food was good, but the portions were a bit small and pricier than what I usually look for. The service is good and they served us very quickly.

I went to this restaurant through a recommendation I found here on minube. The views are excellent, the mussels were really good, and the paella was excellent. But the standout point for me was the service. The restaurant is a little ways off the beaten path but it’s worth it to go for the delicious rice dishes, the views, and the excellent service.

We went under the recommendation of a woman from the town of Sant Lluis but didn’t expect quite such a beautiful restaurant in the town. What a surprise! We had a spectacular “arroz caldoso” and a round of tapas. The service was friendly. I’ll definitely repeat!
Restaurants in Binibeca
La Quesería

Located in the fishing village of Binibeca, this restaurant offers traditional dishes from the island like Menorcan-style octopus and fresh fish, among others. The place itself is very welcoming and has spectacular views and a very “chill out” atmosphere. The popular owner, Lluis Mercadal, always has a smile and it’s ready to make sure everyone is having a good time. I’d really recommend this place.

La Minerva Restaurant

There is a very quiet and pleasant atmosphere. There is an evening menu for 15 euros which is really very good. The waiters attention is very good. We've been very comfortable here. At night the atmosphere is very romantic and at day the mahon harbor views are just wonderful.

Es Cranc Pelut Restaurant

This is a great restaurant, and my favorite part was the lobster rice and the friendly service. They gave us great advice about the menu, and it was obvious that the suggestions were sincere, not just to charge you the most amount of money. The atmosphere is relaxed and there are great views of the port of Fornells and the service is correct and amicable.

I ate here on the 5th of June with my significant other. The place is gorgeous and has spectacular views of the Ciutadella fishing port both from the terrace and the top floor. We ate on the top floor and it’s a very quiet space. For starters, we had some top-quality tapas: mussels, baby squid, tuna carpaccio (wow!), and fried fish. Then we had some main dishes. The price is reasonable given the quality of the fish and the service. We’ll go again this summer for sure!

Café D'el Nord Restaurant

The Café d’el Nord is in Fornells beach, Menorca. The service is great and the wait staff are very friendly. The menu is mainly fish and shellfish and the wine list is top-notch. The price-quality ratio is very good and the prices are adequate for the level of the restaurant. If we go back to Menorca, I’m sure we’ll eat here again.

I recommend visiting Binibeca Vell, a resort town in the south of Menorca near the airport. In my case, I reserved a rental car at the airport and arrived right at noon to begin my route to Binibeca. I couldn’t have chosen a better place to start my visit to Menorca. The Binibeca area is a residential zone with lots of green spaces and nice homes. It’s right on the sea and has a clean, calm, white-sand beach. The light there is just wonderful. Binibeca stands out for a complex of white houses done in the traditional Menorcan style, but it also has some shops, grocery stores, and a small tree-lined plaza with some restaurants. One of the restaurants is the Pescadito, which is where I went to eat. It has a lovely terrace and a gorgeous interior as well. As far as the food goes, I can honestly say I’d give it a 10. The price was average for Menorca (keep in mind that it’s an island), which is somewhat more expensive than in Mallorca or the mainland Mediterranean coast.

Gin Xoriguer Destilería
The English arrived in Menorca (well, basically invaded it) and brought gin with them. Over time, the British left the island but the gin stayed and at Gin Xoriguer, it’s still made the traditional way. In fact, it’s the only distillery on the island and you can see the whole process of making gin in the copper tanks heated by wood fires. The shop has a large variety of gins which you can try for free. I especially like the “pomade,” a mix of gin and lemonade.

If you want a good stew dinner of lobster (the traditional dish of the island) or any other type of risotto/paella and a generous amount of fish and seafood, this is your place. Situated in the center of the town of Fornells, here you can eat at ease and and with quality in a rustic and friendly place. Prepare the portfolio, book a table in advance and leave space for dessert (they make a tasty cheesecake).

Ses Forquilles
Possibly one of the most creative and original places in downtown Mahón. It’s a gastropub where you can enjoy tapas at the bar or more elaborate plates in the upstairs area.

Baixamar Coffee

We spent a few days touring around Menorca and every morning we passed by the Baixamar, where Joan and Rachel, who have taken over the business for a few months, prepared the tastiest and delicious sandwiches (pork with red peppers and garlic, pesto chicken with cheese , Iberian ham with tomato and oil) and ALSO gave us the best advice on what beaches to visit each day, each one more and more incredible. They also have a terrace that overlooks the harbor, where you can have from creative salads, delicious cheeses (the binigarba fabulous!), to toasts and more elaborate dishes. We loved the Baixamar, also because of its ancient interiors with carved stools and mirrors modernist (see photos) and the jazz music they chose, as well as for their friendly treatment. We are sure you they are going to have a lot of sucess. We will go back!
