Today I made a pleasant discovery, the restaurant El Terrat. We went there to celebrate my birthday. It is opposite the car park of La Pedrera, so it is very easy to reach and easy to be able to leave the car. We ordered the tasting menu. First we were brought snacks that were not all that great. The first dish was not bad but I was not thrilled, it was cod carpaccio salad with anchovy tartare, but from the second plate omwards began the good stuff with a melon with ham accompanied by a chocolate with a magnificent presentation, very good, also sepia and sea bass with garlic tempura and better still the caramelized Iberian secret, and what about the desserts, the cheesecake with Szechuan pepper ice cream, I do not like cheese and I was excited with iced tea, it was great. In the end it has been an experience that has been very positive. All this with a lightly carbonated water and one without gas. Fantastic place!
My husband and I had intestinal infection for two days and even my husband had itching in the body throughout the week .... Most people know that the same thing happened. Be careful with raw food because it has to be well preserved, and you have to prepare it well, or else it is dangerous!!
The Móramar Restaurant at Playa la Mora has a large terrace with a good vibe and a pleasant interior dining room as well. After sampling some tasty appetizers, we had paella made with mushrooms and monkfish that was simply divine. Before I forget, make sure to try the desserts, especially the cheesecake. I love to eat well, especially when the meal is accompanied by great views. Móramar is just the place!
If you visit Tarragona, you can't leave without having an al-fresco vermouth on one of the terraces in the plaza. The local custom is to go and have a drink around noon. I’d suggest Casa del Vermut in the Plaza del Rey. You can sit out on the square with a cool vermouth in hand and have a lovely time just watching the world pass by. They even gave us croquettes as a personal touch and they were delicious!
This local restaurant is part of the Slowfood movement, which means that everything comes straight from the local markets. We had a lovely appetizer with shellfish and garden-fresh artichokes and a salad of codfish and romesco sauce. The star plate was, without a doubt, the rice we tried. I made me want to lick my fingers! Obviously the product is the freshest available (we actually heard the owners fretting about how the octopus fisherman hadn't arrived yet), but the atmosphere is lovely as well. It's high-end cuisine but you feel like you're right at home. They also have a terrace with umbrellas so you can enjoy the sunshine out in the plaza.
This restaurant is about strong, direct flavors. It's based on Catalan and Spanish tradition but also adds a touch of Asian flair. You can find things like ceviche, callos, fish, and meat, all as fresh as can be. We chose the Petit tasting menu and we left stuffed. The restaurant is very cute and inviting, the type of place where you could spend hours. The best part (aside from the food) was that you could talk shop with the owners, exchanging recipes, tips, and the life. They were really friendly.
Arcs Restaurant aims to be one of the top restaurants in Tarragona by putting a modern spin on old favorites. The homemade foie gras salad and gazpacho ice cream was the best dish that I tried. It’s one of those places where you just can’t stop eating and choosing what to order becomes a real dilemma. If you’re a fan of high cuisine, this is the place for you.
The Xaloc Restaurant is not only located in Tarragona's traditional fishing neighborhood, El Serrallo, but the owner and chef actually used to be fisherman. This explains why the fish and seafood dishes are so delicious. I have to make a special mention of the flavorful red shrimp served with one of those sauces which you can't help but sop up with your bread. For dessert we had pineapple with crema catalana which was wonderful. The only downside was that we were so stuffed that we couldn't finish the entire dessert. The restaurant is two-stories with the lower one full of families and the upper one reserved for events. They also have a small terrace that's perfect for sunny days. The wait staff was friendly and helpful.
An oasis in the Tarragona marina with a cozy terrace with wonderful sea views. The dishes on the menu are loved by everyone, but we chose a menu of 16€ taking advantage of the fact that we loved all of the dishes on the menu and it was a success both the fish appetizer and the steak with Roquefort. Very nice treatment and comfortable.
The food at the restaurant is just like the rest of the campsite: great! We ordered a few small starters to share and finished with some fish and steaks (one of them weighed 1 kilo!). The fish came cooked in a layer of salt and breaking it open the crust and serving the steaming meat out was wonderful. One thing that stood out was the great service: they kept coming to make sure we had everything we needed and that all the food was good. Highly recommended.
Fresher fish is almost impossible. Restaurant Manolo, located in the seaside barrio of Serrallo, is a must for its delicious seafood and welcoming atmosphere.
When we visited, there was a campaign to promote locally-caught blue fish and so of course we decided to give it a shot. The menu usually changes depending on what’s fresh, but it’s always excellent.
Oh, and don’t forget to finish your dinner with a traditional glass of Chartreuse. It’s a real treat.
In the old town of Tarragona and close to the cathedral, we found this great place to eat. We can't way to go back again. The restaurant itself is very nice: you can see the Visible kitchen, and it is a renovated building with arches and stained glass, proper spacing between tables and ... Smoke, perfect. Although they had a menu that we could order from, we preferred to try the a la carte: Some sandwiches, caesar salad, jalapeno, spicy potatoes with wasabi and starry egg with duck ham. Remarkable, especially potatoes and jalapenos expendable and Cesar salad. The desserts were normal. To drink a beer with raspberry. The atmosphere generally is very nice, the restaurant was full, correct service but a little stiff, I hope that it was just something that day. In short, a place to return.
This is a small family restaurant located in the center of Tarragona. It is characterized by succulent sausages presented in slices of toasted bread smeared with tomato and oil or combined with pates and mouse. It is perfect to go with family, friends, or a couple!
I spoke of Ca l'Oscar as "the place to eat rice that succeeds in the last year", and with good reason. Taking advantage of the good weather at noon, we sat on the terrace of the restaurant, in the heart of Tarragona, Plaça del Rei, and ordered a six rice. First, a pica-pica a classic as well as croquettes, salad, squid and tomato bread (pa amb tomàquet in Catalan). Second, rice. I could write a thesis about variants of paella up and down the Mediterranean coast. In this case, it had more red than yellow, with seafood but no vegetables. In any case, 10 - a no nonsense restaurant with good food and triumphs like the people of the city.
Yesterday I had dinner at this restaurant, Old Cantina Mariachi, and it has a much more comfortable and enjoyable atmosphere. We didn't ask for much, a strawberry margarita, jalapenos, some fajitas. Everything was very tasty, but it was served as it came and we often spent a long time waiting between each person being served so we ate dinner cold, but hey, it could be attributable to the amount of people that were there. Nevertheless, the service was good, uncoordinated, but good and above all friendly. The price was not too expensive and it's a good place for a drink before or after the movies, as this restaurant is right next to the multiplex of Les Gavarres, for this reason it is very easy to find parking.
Il Capanonne is a restaurant located in the polygon Gavarres, which is a multiplex mall. The creators of this restaurant are the same as in Tagliatella and Il Pastificio. The menu is very similar: carpaccio, salads, lasagna, meat and especially pasta in different forms and variations which can be accompanied with a choice of sauces and pizzas. I was having dinner yesterday and although the price seemed expensive at first, I later realized when the dishes came that a pizza or salad can be shared by two or more people, it is a single or dinner dish eat leftovers. I ordered a pizza bolognese and my travel companions and Neapolitan four cheeses, plus a salad to share. The truth is that TDO was very tasty, especially the pizzas, much better than in the Tagliatella. This guy put a thin crust focaccia, so fine that could double as a pancake. The splendid salad on focaccia dough also. Also I should highlight the excellent customer service.
