The restaurant-bar L'Acropole is located on the seafront in Les Sables d'Olonne. It is a restaurant with "kitsch" decor. There's an indoor lounge, but unless the weather is really cold, I recommend staying on the magnificent terrace with stunning views of the sea. You can have a coffee here, a delicious ice cream or a crepe. Or you can eat brasserie food: pizzas, pastas, salads (my favourite is with warm goat's cheese), fish, shellfish, meat...
Havana Café is a nice place with a Latin atmosphere where you can enjoy a coffee, drink or beer. There's also a wide selection of cocktails. I really like the decor, with its big, comfortable red sofas. It sometimes organises concerts and parties at night. Be careful, because it's not open at lunchtime.
This small restaurant, decorated completely in yellow, is opposite the fishing port of Les Sables d'Olonne, where all the restaurants can be found. You can eat very well here. There are three menus, for 14, 26, and 33 euros. On the menu: fish, seafood, lamb fillet, beef tenderloin ... there are also creative dishes like chestnut velout with hazelnut oil or crunchy strawberries ... fine, original cuisine, and excellent service. It's best to book in advance.
I wanted to give my view on Le Bungalow. This is an original restaurant with trendy decor (it was changed recently). The menu changes regularly, and relies on seasonal produce. The food is good, if rather unsurprising ... one would expect more, given the fashionable design. There's room for up to 300 people, inside and on the terrace. The restaurant is open from 12 to 14h, and 19 to 23h.
The name of the bar comes from the nearby market. The kitchen doesn't disappoint; the chef's experience shines through in all the dishes. The meals on offer are traditional - frog's legs, prawns, leg of lamb, mussels with chips ... for dessert, don't miss the homemade chocolate cake with creme anglaise! It can hold about 60 people, including the terrace. Closed Mondays.
The L'Escale restaurant is located opposite the fishing port. It is well known in les Sables d'Olonne. Famous for its fine cuisine, the restaurant is usually full. The nautical decor, based on the surroundings, blends seamlessly in with the area. On the menu, you can enjoy seafood (shrimps, prawns, oysters, clams, crabs, lobster, sea snails, homemade fish terrine, eels, cuttlefish, sardines...). The only problem is that it's not easy to find parking in summer.
I love this place ... The decor is excellent and fashionable. Everything is modern and original. The prices are affordable, and it's a great place to spend a bit of time, eating or drinking. They have a menu of the day for 10 euros, or a 5-euro snack menu with drink and cake.
They pride themselves on their hospitality, and will do everything possible to ensure that you spend a nice evening at their restaurant. The decor is just beautiful, very authentic, with a wonderful Moroccan lounge. The house specialty is the cousous, and they also offer steak, lamb chops, kebabs, merguez, salads, tagines ... great quality : price ratio.
This creperie is opposite the port of Sables d'Olonne, an area where there are many restaurants. It is a small, charming restaurant in which you can really spend an enjoyable evening. The pirate decor is quite charming. The menu is varied, with a good quality : price ratio. It offers generously portioned crepes and galettes. You can find some truly original and delicious dishes here.
The bar La Fontaine is in the pedestrian district of Les Sables d'Olonne. The name comes from the nineteenth century fountain in front of the bar. I like the decor, although the red chairs don't harmonize well with the rest of the room! A nice place to have a coffee in the sunshine, especially out on the terrace.
La Mare restaurant is located in Les Sables d'Olonne, opposite the fishing port. The name - The Sea - says it all: this is a seafood joint! On the menu: crabs, oysters, mussels, fish ... the chips are delicious. The decor is excellent, everything in wood, and there's a small terrace for outdoor dining overlooking the harbour. This restaurant is known for its seafood, so be sure to try some!
Another good restaurant in the port. Surrounded by nautical decor, and in a relaxed atmosphere, you can eat well. The menu of the day, with a main course and a dessert, costs 13 euros. You can try sauerkraut, hake, mussels in a variety of sauces ... delicious. This restaurant is located in Sables d'Olonne.
Clipper is a restaurant located in the port of Les Sables d'Olonne. It has a beautiful view over the port. The chef loves to cook, and it really shows in the kitchen. On the menu: seafood, including fish and lobster, and meat, dishes like cannnelloni with parma, ham and shrimp, sea bass fillet with chorizo ...
A great restaurant ... I went there for dinner one evening and everything was delicious. The decor is excellent, in white, black and grey. It specialises in grilled food. On the menu: mussels, grilled sardines, steak, spiced lamb, pizzas ... there are a variety of menu combinations, one for 13.80, another for 17.90, and a third for 19.80. I tried the last, which was great: supreme of guinea fowl, and my partner loved the duck tenderloin. We both had a delicious chocolate dessert, too.
Le Caprice is a small creperie in Les Sables d'Olonne. It's not far from the beaches, opposite the harbour. The salads cost less than 10 euros: for example, the Parisian salad costs 8.10. It's not very expensive, and the food is good. There's a large terrace with plenty of tables and chairs, or you can sit inside at the bar. Delicious ice cream, too.
This restaurant, located opposite the entrance of the fishing port of Les Sables d'Olonne, has very original decor. On the menu: meats, grills, pizzas, mussels, pastas, salads and dishes like scallops millefeuille, tajine of lamb shank, entrecote, chops. Or if you prefer, there are also menus for 17.90 or 26.90. Good quality : price ratio. Reservations recommended.
This brasserie, in the port of Les Sables d'Olonne, has great decor. You can eat inside or out. On the menu: galettes, crepes, mussels, fish, steak, confit, hake, salmon ... If you have a sweet tooth, there are very good desserts like pancakes, profiteroles or chocolate cake. A good restaurant where nothing is too expensive, and you're sure to end your evening with a smile on your face.
The restaurant Le Galion is located opposite the beach of Sables d'Olonne. It has charming nautcial decoration, and inside there's a selection of books about the sea. Don't expect to find haute cuisine here; it has a rather simple kitchen. On the menu: pancakes, fish, meat, potatoes, mussels, shellfish, marine couscous ... and you can enjoy an ice cream under the sun. In low season, Le Galion organizes cabaret nights.
