You can enjoy the bonfires of St. John during the month of June. Wherever you go, you’ll find burning fires at night, and even fireworks on Postiguét beach. Nightlife is guaranteed as there are impromptu stands set up all over the place which serve food and drinks, and there’s live music until late.
You can enjoy the Saint John bonfires during June. You can find “ninots”, which are burned at night and on Postiguet beach you’ll find great views of the fireworks. It’s a time of guaranteed party, as they put food and drink stands across the city and have music well into the morning.
It is a festival that attracts many locals and people from the neighboring provinces, and many foreigners who are vacationing in the area. It is not harmful to the animals, as there is a medical team on-hand for them, apart from the fact that they swim pretty well, and for participants it is exciting and refreshing. Both my daughters and I have attended a few years and at least for us it was fun ...
Dressing up like a Moor or a Christian for a festival is more than just dressing up. Parading down the street as a squadron or a corporal is a feeling that many wouldn’t understand but is something that one truly enjoys and feels within their heart.
The Misteri d'Elx is the truest sign of the city's cultural identity. Declared a UNESCO Heritage Site it is s a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity, a representation of medieval roots, divided into two acts that is staged every year on 14 and 15 August in the interior of the Basilica of Santa Maria. A song drama that recreates the Assumption and Coronation and Death of the Virgin Mary, Mother of Jesus, and that as a whole has many historical and artistic aspects worthy of consideration. This is the only work of its kind that remains today despite the prohibitions arising from the Council of Trent concerning performances inside churches, a fact which makes it a very valuable piece for the study of theater in medieval European religion. By extraordinary, performances are also held every even year on 29 and 30 October and 1 November. Brilliant spectacle of troops landing on the Clot de l'Illot of Carrerlamar beach of El Campello. It is an act full of color and intensity, the firing of cannons and muskets gives it that warrior touch and leads us to the Middle Ages, not to mention the gorgeous costumes. There is a parade of the troops back to the Torre de la Illeta and the first Parliament also thought it was great. It summarizes several centuries of history in just three days and is a wonderful 'adventure' ... and how we live 'els campellers'.
With the arrival of the holidays, many villages in the province of Alicante celebrate various events commemorating the birth of Jesus and the adoration of the Magi. The Three Kings Cavalcade of Alcoy, is of National Tourist Interest, and is spectacular. On this ride the Magi parade with camels and the pages enter children's homes to deliver gifts or climb ladders to the balconies. It is the oldest parade in Spain.
In the coastal village of Villajoyosa, the sea is the backdrop for the festivities celebrating the Moorish invasions which took place along the Mediterranean in the 16th century. For that reason, the Moorish Landing on the beach shore is the festival's central act, that which gives it such a unique and singular character, and the reasons it was named a festival of National Touristic Interest. This fiesta is over 250 years old and the whole town is filled with processions and parades. On the morning of July 28th, the ocean is the star as the "Moorish army" lands on the beach while the Christian army defends the shoreline with artillery. At dawn, over 30 boats with Moorish troops storm the Mediterranean shore, setting off a spectacular battle between the two complete with sounds and music.
Dear Internet User:
As a previous guest, we would like to invite you, as we do every year, to be part of one of our most cherished traditions: The Moors and Christians festival in honor of our patron St. Francis of Assisi. And we invite you to Elche with the assurance that you'll have an enjoyable time, surrounded by festive costumes, the beauty of our sultanas and queens, the gallantry of our captains, ambassadors and charges and a festive spirit that you can enjoy and share. In short, there is nothing better than sharing with us this holiday season and we are convinced that you will return every year. Long live the party! Jose Angel Asencio Alfaro
The City of Elche and the Association for the Development of Rural d'Elx, along with other associations and organizations such as the Community Irrigation Carrizales, organized in 2011 the first Camp d'Elx Fireta. It's pretty authentic, a bit like going back in time. In Elche, the field is also a value, meaning the representation of women and men tending to the land and animals is authentic. The 2002 festival will feature more family activities and sociocultural information. It's a great time to visit Elche. I will leave the facebook page and a phone number if you decide to visit. It is held between 5 and 7 October.
