The Capitol is the seat of the legislature in the United States, and is located in the federal capital of Washington DC. The Capitol is neoclassical in design, and composed of a dome and two wings. William Thornton developed it. Today, the Senate is in the north wing and the House of Representatives in the south.
The U.S. loves to recognize their famous dead, whatever kind of famous they are. Lennon spent years in Manhattan while married to Yoko Ono. They lived in the Dakota building near Central Park, and Lennon was murdered while out on the streets. This is a tribute to his memory, and we saw a lady singing a Beatles song. It was very emotional. I recommend it.
Planning on going to Las Vegas but don't know what sites you should check out? The Hoover Dam should definitely be at the too of your list. Go see the history behind it and it's vastness. It truly is a site to see.
You will visit this shopping centre on a tour as it is next to the Hancock Tower. Inside there are the Lego Store and Adidas official store, among other brands. Go in and have a look around. As the name suggests, it is right next to the Water tower.
The Liberty Bell Hall is a media center dedicating to maintaining the bell and preserving its history and symbolism. I recommend that you get there early to avoid the long lines, which sometimes surround the entire building! The video that explains the bell's history is very interesting and touching. I was struck by the image of a child in Central America who cried after getting his chance to touch the famous bell.
I was there in March 2011 and left with mixed feelings. The park is poorly maintained and very outdated for all the potential it has with being with NASA. For me the highlight was the bus tour, the pavillion of the Apollo V (that I loved) and I especially liked the viewpoint from the launch pads. If you like photography and have a good objective you can take spectacular photos (plus I was lucky that they were preparing one of the last space shuttle launches). In summary the main attraction for me was realising the historical value (which is not bad) and forgetting about the theme park, which really is quite bad. I recommended it but it is not a must-see.
Bay Bridge is a well balanced metal giant in San Francisco, stretching between buildings and connecting the city with Oakland. The bridge has 7 km and ten tracks on two levels. It's is a good introduction, and impressive construction, at the entrance to San Francisco.
One of the icons of the United States of America, the heads of the American Presidents Washington, Jefferson, Roosevelt and Lincoln all carved into the rock. In the Black Hills, in 1927 Mr. Borglum began carving these faces that are almost 20 metres high. The park has a set of paths from which you can see the monument, as well as both the nature and wildlife of the area.
