A marvelous place! After going up the Picos de Europa for 6 years in a row in the summer, we decided to visit them in winter. The lakes are covered in ice and they give the landscape an appearance that is completely different to the green earth in summer. I really recommend that you go in the wintertime, there are no tourists and you are able to enjoy the landscape.
Located in the port of Santa Cruz Tenerife created by Cesar Manriquez, situated in the very center of the wonderful city, you can find the Hotel Beatriz at a fantastic price. It offers quality service, professionalism and an excellent buffet. You can also dine in the Tasquita. The have mussels grilled, cuttlefish, squid, and of non seafood dishes. YOu can also have dinner at the prestigious restaurant Regulus set in a family house with the patio become one of their dinning rooms. The cod and avocado stuffed with seafood are exquisite gourmet dishes.
The pond at Retiro is a cool place to spend a day with your significant other, paddling a rowboat around, enjoying the sunshine, street performers, and monuments. You can rent the boats for pretty cheap (around 7 euros per hour, I believe) and hang out. The pond is full of people-friendly carp which gather and splash (begging for snacks!) whenever you get near the water's edge. Anyways, it's not the most exciting thing in Madrid but everyone needs a day at the park now and then.
Also known as the Albufera de Anna. I went last year with my family. It is a natural spot for families, friends, couples and solo travellers to enjoy nature. Besides the lake, there are pools of ice water that are enjoyed, adorned by a delightful waterfall. There are tables and places to eat, rest, play, walk, etc .. In short, an outdoor area that will delight the whole family.
This beautiful lake is the star of the village of Uña. It dominates the rest of the village thanks to its privileged enclave. A good touristic management made it possible to contemplate dusk sitting on a small wooden pier, with benches in the direction of the banks of the river. The perfect place to end the evening, chat, try the local wine or eat one of those divine "hojaldres conquenses"(local puff paste). Don't miss it!
One of the most beautiful and romantic places in the Prince's Garden is the small artificial lake that's irregularly shaped with three islets. There is a Greek-style kiosk, a Chinese-style kiosk, and an Egyptian granite mausoleum. The Greek kiosk was designed by Juan de Villanueva, with a series of eight Ionic columns that hold the roof, while the original Chinese temple was damaged during the Spanish War of Independence, and is being rebuilt as a Turkish kiosk.
The Monasterio de Piedra lake is always so quiet and peaceful that it looks like a mirror, reflecting the whole sky and the surrounding scenery around the lake. A haven of peace, which will lead the way, crossing several wooden bridges and the nearby farm, the first to be built in Spain.
